Mission Statement: The Young Professionals Organization is dedicated to cultivating a young, vibrant, professional community in the Grand Island area by providing networking, volunteer and educational opportunities.

What is a Young Professional, you ask? We categorize “Young” as anyone in their 20s & 30s; however, anyone young at heart is welcome to join our group! We also use the term “Professional” fairly loosely. If you consider yourself professional and have the desire to get connected with your community while having fun, we are the group for you!

YP is designed to offer you the following:

Social/Community Involvement

  1. Provide social connections through informal events – after work socials, sporting leagues, picnics, etc.
  2. Provide community connections through coordinated volunteer efforts; such as smoke detectors for Grand Island, Humane Society volunteer day, American Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters activities, etc.

YP volunteered to raise money to support the American Red Cross Chili Cook Off.

YP was awarded “best apron” and “easiest on the tummy” chili.

YP came together to support Big Brother Big Sister's annual fundraiser.

FAB, Fun After Business, is a popular event and a way for members to reflect on the hectic work day.

Development

  1. Provide professional development opportunities through workshops focused on leadership development, time management, task delegation, etc.
  2. Provide personal development opportunities through workshops and learning lunches.
  3. Provide community development through informative events supporting community non-profit organizations.
  4. Provide social connections through formal events and activities – dinner events, meeting monthly with a prominent CEO for breakfast, and meet with dignitaries for special events, etc.
