Scholarship Opportunities
The Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of high grades and academic accomplishment. However, we also recognize the importance of community involvement, personal development, participation in school activities, good citizenship, and past employment as factors positively affecting successful careers and employment. The Chamber will award four scholarships to individual students demonstrating a wide range of capabilities in these specific areas.
One non-renewable, $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior at each of the Grand Island High Schools – Grand Island Senior High, Grand Island Northwest and Grand Island Central Catholic. One additional $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Centura High School, Doniphan-Trumbull Public School, Heartland Lutheran High School or Wood River High School. The scholarships will be awarded to students who plan to attend a post-secondary institution (public or private) during the 2011-2012 academic year.
The scholarships are awarded to high school graduating seniors who are pursuing a program/career in agriculture/agribusiness. Only one scholarship will be awarded per high school annually. All scholarships are academic in nature. Financial need may be a consideration in the selection process, but will not be the determining factor.
