    Family Practice of Grand Island, PC is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and motivated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our busy and growing clinic! The ideal candidate will possess current CMA certification, a current CPR/BLS certification, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Past clinic experience, ability to multi-task, excellent time-management skills, and knowledge of computer programs is desired. The ideal candidate would be bilingual but is not a requirement.
    New or anticipated graduates of a Medical Assisting program are encouraged to apply!
    Essential Duties Include:
    • Fully and accurately complete pre-visit planning prior to the physician or advanced practice provider seeing the patient.
    • Monitor health care maintenance for patients, including gaps in care and vaccinations.
    • Call patient back to the provider’s area and perform check-in per protocol, including obtaining vitals.
    • Prepare the patient for the physician or advanced practice provider’s exam.
    • Assist the physician or advanced practice provider as directed.
    • Administer appropriate injections, as required and within scope of licensure.
    • Assist with specialty visits and hospital tests, as requested.
    • Utilize scheduling system to add patients to the schedule, when necessary, according to the triage procedure.
    • Prepare the exam rooms in the provider’s area for the treatment of patients, making sure that each exam room is adequately stocked with supplies needed for the day.
    • Empty bins with confidential patient information and shred in accordance with proper confidentiality procedures.
    • Clean exam rooms and counter tops at the end of work shift, per protocol.
    • Maintain CPR certification and renew within 3 months of expiration date.
    • Other duties or specialty jobs as assigned.
    Desired Skills and Abilities:
    • Must be familiar with medical terminology and will utilize the Family Practice Abbreviation list correctly.
    • Must possess excellent time-management and organizational skills which facilitate the work flow of the physician or advanced practice providers.
    • Must have knowledge of computerized information systems (EMR) used in clinical management setting.
    • Must possess knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations including the requirements of the HIPAA and OSHA applicable state rules and regulations pertinent to medical practices.
    • Must be able to perform duties in accordance with the customary rules of ethics and conduct of the applicable State Board of Nursing and other such regulating bodies.
    • Must have strong commitment to patient care and excellence in healthcare.
    • Must have ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    Working Conditions:
    • Requires working in a clinical setting with moderate noise level and a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens.
    • Must have ability to stand and/or sit for an extended period of time with some bending or stooping.
    • Must have the ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
    Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Must have current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
    • CPR/BLS certification required or acquired within 60 days of hire.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years previous experience in a clinical setting preferred but not required.
